Hi s.l.i. and all,
ThumbCal's been my daily calendar for > 1 year now - thanks a lot for a great app!
And it's good to see that it's getting some attention with v1.4!
Two things have been on my wishlist ever since I started using it:
1) Pleeeeeease offer an alternative for time input!
I know the "wheels" are en vogue since the iThing, but the most efficient way of entering time is still the 0-9 grid (or "Zehnertastatur"). Think about it: It takes only four taps to enter a full, precise time (even with odd numbers such as 17:37). Four taps and you're done. The wheel looks neat but isn't nearly as quick or precise. Flipping digits up and down (as in 1.3.5) is precise but takes waaaay to many taps.
Mostly when entering a new appointment I'm under time pressure. Usually the person or business partner I'm making the appointment with is there waiting while I enter the appointment. They generally don't appreciate how nice the UI looks. All they care for is that I finish "playing with my gadget" as quickly as possible. So it's really a priority for me to keep input in Calendar as quick and precise as possible.
ThumbCal meant a great leap forward because it's still the most finger-friendly calendar app out there. For me, this change could make it so much better.
I'm sure coding the wheel took a good deal of time and skill. I'm not a developer but I figure coding a 0-9 grid should be easier to do. So please, pleeease at least consider it as an option (with a choice in settings).
2) Quick-choose appointment status
Once I've entered the essentials of an appointment, the next thing I do is set the appointment status ("busy", "tentative", "free", "out of office"). At the moment, tapping the button cycles through the status, so to get to "tentative" it takes several taps. Could you change this into a popup menu (e.g. like the reminder or recurrence menus)?
Other than that, v1.4.0 looks great. Keep up the amazing work, and maybe you can consider my suggestions!
