ThumbCal 1.4.0 final

First of all, thanks a lot for the RGB-Colours for categories. This is really what I was looking for :D

Next, as I mentioned above, I would appreciate to have the option not to show the coloured category dots in the agenda view and the monthly view. A check box would do, so anybody can decide if he/she would like to show the dots or not. I would prefer only to see the colour of the text. In the monthly view it is kind of disturbing, when you see so many different colour dots due to the fact that I have several dates assigned to different categories on one date. I would prefer not to see the dots. It should be enough that in the little preview window for the day at the bottom of the page I can see the coloured text.

Thanks in advance.

thanks for the great job !
thumbcal is all over the best !

but in my opinion the new scrolling date/time picker is not so good ?
the old method by tapping the big digit is quicker then the new scrolling type.
you must pay more attentionand concentration.
the old date/time picker is more convenient.
is it possible to make the type selectable in the settings ?

the next:
sequence:
tap appointments on today > is opening the appointment >tap go back (arrow) icon > go to the calender in monthview not in weekview
Setting: first = weekview

thanks alot !

Hi s.l.i. and all,

ThumbCal's been my daily calendar for > 1 year now - thanks a lot for a great app!
And it's good to see that it's getting some attention with v1.4!

Two things have been on my wishlist ever since I started using it:

1) Pleeeeeease offer an alternative for time input!
I know the "wheels" are en vogue since the iThing, but the most efficient way of entering time is still the 0-9 grid (or "Zehnertastatur"). Think about it: It takes only four taps to enter a full, precise time (even with odd numbers such as 17:37). Four taps and you're done. The wheel looks neat but isn't nearly as quick or precise. Flipping digits up and down (as in 1.3.5) is precise but takes waaaay to many taps.

Mostly when entering a new appointment I'm under time pressure. Usually the person or business partner I'm making the appointment with is there waiting while I enter the appointment. They generally don't appreciate how nice the UI looks. All they care for is that I finish "playing with my gadget" as quickly as possible. So it's really a priority for me to keep input in Calendar as quick and precise as possible.
ThumbCal meant a great leap forward because it's still the most finger-friendly calendar app out there. For me, this change could make it so much better.

I'm sure coding the wheel took a good deal of time and skill. I'm not a developer but I figure coding a 0-9 grid should be easier to do. So please, pleeease at least consider it as an option (with a choice in settings).

2) Quick-choose appointment status
Once I've entered the essentials of an appointment, the next thing I do is set the appointment status ("busy", "tentative", "free", "out of office"). At the moment, tapping the button cycles through the status, so to get to "tentative" it takes several taps. Could you change this into a popup menu (e.g. like the reminder or recurrence menus)?

Other than that, v1.4.0 looks great. Keep up the amazing work, and maybe you can consider my suggestions!

In my personal opinion the IPhone-like wheels to set time and the date are very nice, and I would not want to miss them. However, I can understand that some folks want an alternative input method. So if there would be an option to choose from under the setting menu, everybody would be happy. :)

One more thing I would appreaciate in ThumbCal: there should be an option to show past dates as crossed-out (so with a straight line through it in the agenda view). This is a nice thing I was used to have in PocketBreeze.

I can follow those arguments - makes sense - at least as an option.

Hello, I'm a new user of thumbcal and like it a lot!

I have one small feature request :-) I have a lot of tasks, and only 7 of them will be shown on the same window. To have a better overview I would like the option to see more at the same time. This seems possible, because the settings screen shows 10 items and is still easily touch-friendly. May be you could add an option to control the row height (the option to control the font size doesn't seem to help in this regard)?

I like it too, but for me the scrolling is way to fast.

Just to clarify, I guess you mean that past appointments for the current date get crossed out. So if it's 4pm, your appointment that was at 10am today gets crossed out, right?

That's exactly what I meant. There should be an option to have past appointments being crossed out.
By the way, for me the scrolling wheel is not to quickly. The speed is just ok or could even be quicker.

UPDATE -> Beta 13 is available. Please read the changelog and also the lines below that.

@redd214:
ThumbCal does not have any influence on how and what manila or any other 3rd party application shows or shows not.
From what I know, there is no tasks displaying functionality built into original manila from HTC.
