Wow! Two updates in one day. All the noted changes a working on my 6.1 Fuze. Here are some comments;

The Search functionality is working as you described, looking forward 366 days and only show the last recurrance for appointments. It does show completed tasks (that were recurring) even though I hide completed tasks. This may not be a bad thing if your are searching for something, but seems a bit redundant. It would be good if you could start a new search without exiting the screen and going back in. I suppose you could backspace over your current entry as a workaround. The OK and Cancel soft keys appear to do the same thing, return to the previous screen. So maybe one can become Clear Search instead.

The recurring Icon does not appear everywhere. For appointments I see it in; Agenda View, Search View, Day View, Month/Split View and Detail View. Not visible in Week View (but not sure if it's needed or would even fit). For Tasks, the icon is only visible in Detail View. Not visible in; Agenda, Search, Day, Month/Split or Week views.

EDIT: I just completed a recurring task today and when it recreated for next Monday, it added the icon to the Agenda, Day and Month/Split view. But the icon is still not visible in Search (for tasks only - appts OK). So I guess it is working OK.

The date/time pickers work OK. Honestly, just tapping out numbers for time are probably easier, but this is some pretty nice eye candy so I can live with it. The scrolling is not overly fast so I didn't find myself overshooting. I like the way you can view the current time, in split screen, while setting a new time. Don't remember what the old date screen looked like (getting old sucks) but I guess it may have shown a month/split screen (if activated) and now the month is full view, so that works fine.

I especially like the "due in X days" on Task, Day and Agenda View, but would suggest that you hide it in Month/Split view. With only one line if text it hides too much of the the Task detail. And you do have the full calendar in front of you to determine how may days you have till due.

Lastly, this may just be me, but it seems the app is a little less responsive to finger taps, mostly in task or appointment setup screens, but also in the settings screen. Not running anything else on my device while testing, but in a few instances when I tapped something, I had to do it two or three times before I got a response and each time the screen jumped a bit. But then I would go to a different task to edit and the screen appeared responsive, with no jumping. Even tried my fingernail with no improvement. I didn't notices this going through any of the other screens. Again, it may just be me.

Thank you for the update. Nice improvements.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's got appointments that follow this pattern: every 1st Sunday of the month. A German radio station has public performances of radio plays on every 1st and last Sunday of the month, except for the summer holiday months. It is impossible to include this in ThumbCal, but it's a breeze with PocketInformant. I wish ThumbCal would include a similar option. Here's how it's done in PI - easy, innit?

I know, this is an important feature and I am already working on it.

Great to hear this! Thanks a lot for picking up development again!

My very wish list would be the following:

(1) I would like to have more category colours available. Best would be a colour spectrum, where you can choose from.

(2) As I use the category colours only in the agenda view and the weekly view, I would like to have the option not to show the coloured dots in the monthly view.

(3) It should be possible to change the style of the text. More sizes, bold, italic, etc. ... That would be gorgeous.

And, by the way, thanks fore being back on this marvelous project.

Hi,
i am using this great tool, and I am happy that you will continue to work on it.
But one thing makes me crazy on the agenda view, when I add a new appointment in the future, it jumps all the time back to today week.
so I have to go again into this "future" week to continue my adding.
Is there a way to change ß
thanks

This is an update to my previous post above regarding the Recurrance Icon showing for Tasks in various views. After midnight I went back to check and the Icon disappeared from all views except for the Detailed task view. So it appears that for Tasks, the Icon will appear in all views on the day the recurrance occurs, but will then disappear the next day.

My recurring task is set to recur every Monday, with no end date. The current task is set to start on 2/22/10 and end on 2/22/10, next Monday. Once I mark it complete next Monday it will recreate for the following Monday and I expect the Icon will be visible again until Tuesday. I normally hide completed tasks, but turned off that filter and past events are not marked with the Icon.

But wouldn't it be hard to use your finger to navigate a color spectrum? The most important ThumbCal feature for me is not having to use my stylus for anything. Doubling the number of dots would be OK I suppose, but trying to fine tune colors on a spectrum could get complicated. Setting a spectrum as an option would be OK also, so long as I wouldn't be required to use it.

>- no more long tap action on the view button; the option for splitted month view can now be found in settings >screen

I am missing a little bit the long tab menue "today" to switch quickly back to the current day/week if "flipping arround. Now I have to tab at the TOP of the screen the months for example and than at the BOTTOM of the screen I can tab "today", so the finger is moving from the top to the bottom whereas the previous long tab action was more convienient and could be done with 1 hand, "snipping" with the thumb thorugh the weeks and retrun quickly to the current week (my HD2 has a large screen).

>- in search view you must hit the button to start searching; removed the automatic search start after input
I liked the automatic search function, was quite quick on my hd2, maybe this could be an option in settings that the user can choose?

@Jimsky: Thanks for your very precise feedback. The recurrence icon for tasks is indeed not correctly implemented in the currently available beta. But it is already fixed in my current build.
The way recurring tasks work is a different one to recurring appointments. Each time a recurring task becomes completed, a new instance of this task will be created, which seems to leave the recurring state.

@thumbFan: Creating the advanced recurrence pattern editor will cost you some beers, definitely!!! ;) It is a bit tricky but almost finished.
But I know, it should have been on board for a long time.

@Elch08: More colours could be possible but as mentioned, it should stay simple as now. I will try to introduce an option for advanced colour editing via entering RGB values. This should do the job.

@g_flash: Do you mean agenda view or week view? Agenda only shows the next 2 weeks starting with the current date.

@dreamteam: I will try to find a solution for jumping to today. Maybe via long tap again. A nice feature would be a shake gesture...

@all:
The next update will also bring some scrolling smoothnes improvements again especially for wvga/vga screens and some more fixes.
I will try to complete it by the weekend.

Thanks again for your feedback and suggestions! :D
